A Bird's Eye View exhibits recent works by Camila Fernandez, Ivan Lopez, and Denise Tarantino reflecting on the natural world around them during COVID and the extremely abundant changes in our human world. These artists have transformed their observations into beautiful portraits of both the individual as well as the flock, honoring their beauty, grace, and existence in our hybrid worlds. Our varied relationships to the diverse aviary world we co-exist with - either in the wild, as pets, or as a food source, is a curious phenomenon. How we acknowledge and treat animals in the wild vs animals that we keep as pets or as sustenance are very different; how we gauge their beauty is often saved for birds of a rare breed or from a tropical, remote jungle. This exhibition is to celebrate and honor the birds we share our habitat with - both in the wild and in captivity.
These artists have taken a closer look at their physical beauty - particularly birds whom we consider to be food, scavengers or possibly a nuisance, rarely the muse for a beautiful portrait.
