While walking around neighborhoods like the Mission and Valencia, or meeting people at school, or talking to customers at work, I’ve come to the realization of how big of an impact a single person can have. Whether its how they talk or how they dress, it is so easy to be inspired by someone. With my piece titled People’s Impression I try to invoke the feeling you have when someone special to you or inspiring leaves an important mark. I started this painting off by letting friends and peers paint on it because I thought that the best way to show the indent they have on me is have them paint it themselves. Each illustration on the collage has some sort of significance or importance behind it, like the cave on the arm to emphasize the corner of privacy we all want. Or the footprint to represent anytime you feel pushed away or kicked out. Each image has a specific meaning to me, but it equally can have a certain meaning to you. We can all see a different story in a single picture, and I encourage you to see each idea painted on the body and think of what that imprint means to you, and who left it.
