The INSIDE/OUTSIDE Project, a SF based collaboration between the Drawing Room and Curated State, invited SF Bay area based women artists to submit a piece or a body of work for consideration in this exhibition. We asked for works specifically created since 2020 with the hope of representing how the impacts of the past 2 years have affected artists in what they create and how their work ties to our current state of the world. We are asking artists how COVID, the recent climate crisis and the many socio-political issues happening in these most modern and recent times are affecting women artists as makers, thinkers and activists.
Works in all media we considered including over 400 works of art; multi-media/video/sound and site-specific installation works as well as 2D and 3D works. We have filled a very large space in an attempt to activate a large storefront space bringing new life and community to this corridor. The space at 780 Valencia has been generously sponsored by the building owners, Basking Investment Group and 2BLiving to help build resiliency and community to our neighborhoods through ART, ARTISTS and their communities of supporters.
